‘’’Why we’re doing this’’'
Simply put: Most current infobox structure translates very poorly to mobile experiences, and indeed any device that doesn’t use desktop-style displays. On desktops and laptops, they often look amazing. The problem is that Wikia’s traffic is trending mobile.
There is an important graph from our forum post about infoboxes a couple weeks back, and I want to share it here as well:
We partnered with the Wikia community to create this new markup to make sure that your hard work can be displayed on mobile devices (as well as any future technologies) easily and without any new coding conventions. It’ll take some effort up front, to be sure, but we’re here to help, and the work you put in now will pay for itself tenfold in the future.
‘’’Tools we’ve designed to ease the process’’’
We’ve enabled two new features on your community. One is a tool for migrating the “old” infobox code to the new markup. It identifies templates on your wikia that look like infobox templates and places a box on the right rail of the template page. When you click the “Generate draft markup” button in this box, it opens a new tab containing a draft of your infobox using the new markup.
The second is a new feature on Special:Insights that will highlight which infoboxes on your wikia have not been migrated to the new infobox markup. It’s fairly intuitive - you can click on the infobox title link itself to see the old markup, or simply click the “Convert!” button on the right, which performs the same action as the “Generate draft markup” button.
This is our help page for the new markup. I’ll help get things rolling by converting a template or two as an example if you’d like me to, as well as watching this forum post for any questions.
In pages though they don't have alot of content..Maybe they have all episodes and chapters, I don't know.. Oh well, good thing there is in French too, just like my other manga wiki called Hajime no Ippo.
Fujimaru-kun already put the interlanguage link on mainpage, at the bottom page, in case you haven't notice, but none yet at the French wiki. You can message the admin there about the collabs. Also, for Hajime no Ippo too.
In case we haven't met yet, hi, I'm Andrew. I'm Wikia's technical community manager. If you have no idea what that means, my job is to make sure our partners and users are properly set up with the right content, tools, and (when something fails) technical solutions.
Last month, in partnership with Sony, we launched Wikia for TV SideView. TVSV electronic programming guide for Android that comes pre-loaded on Sony's Android devices. Now, when users access their favorite shows on the TVSV, they can browse your wikia's information alongside programming notes like airtime. It has been a smashing success thus far.
In fact, GTO Wikia - along with a few others I'll be contacting - has ended up being more popular than we'd anticipated! Traffic has been coming at a pace that exceeded our expectations, and many more folks are now reading and enjoying your community's work.
There are a couple gaps in content that we and the users have noticed, and I'm wondering if anyone here has the knowledge necessary to fill them in. You've developed a brand-new audience overnight, and they've quite enjoyed what you have here. I'm curious if you'd like to expand your reach, because if you do, I can show you where you might want to build some content.

Well, I really don't know...I just joined like a year ago, and I'm still learning new stuff about wikia. I didn't do much things here, and I had some help from user Miyanlove, after some time when I became admin. Since I adopted this wiki I knew it would be bad if I did not know much, so I'm still learning stuff. I adopted it because it was dead...well it had some users that were editing on other wikis but that's it, so I thought of taking over. Mostly I'm editing on the other wiki, cleaning pages, vandalism and all that sort of. I will be adding episodes, manga chapters, more information on characters, and all that soon on this wiki when I have time. I would like to do so, expand the wiki more, but I need the time. A few users in the other wiki might come here and help me soon too. I would like you to show me things that I don't know.
Hai there, I got question about the TV sideview. Will it be showing GTO's anime/drama/trailer or Sony's advertisement? Or some other anime trailers as well, since we are connected to Animanga Wikia too.
Or...maybe a trailer video on GTO Wikia, colaborated with staff? Just like the promo video of Creepypasta Wikia.
Hai there, as you might see the changes on mainpage, I was thinking whether the overview and related works should be put there..too much text... the ending & opening theme section have been moved to Music page.
Also, since GTO got drama, movie and remake drama 2012, are those going to be included here as well? Or this wiki just concentrate on anime & manga?
Wow, how you made the main page like that o.O, looks so great, but I think the images there in the middle don't seem really to fit in, I will change them a bit if you don't mind, i'm trying to do something else, and I will put portals too, showing the characters. Seems you're a bit better than me at these, you are already admin on three other wiki. Yes everything about GTO of course, the movie and the two dramas.
I'm a bit busy on the other wiki, but I will see what I can do here.
The image slider, I believe its another one of wiki bug..already contacted staff on that..
If want to add characters portal, just add there without removing anything? I was thinking to add the trailer video as well, but currently its just too much text there....
Not removing anything, I said before that I ain't the type to remove good edits from other users don't worry, unless is something false you know...stuff that you will not do. You didn't add recent wikia activity, shouldn't it be on the main page?
By the way you didn't tell me if you need anything else from me, such as enable achievements or something else, and as I see that you are better than me, you might be given admin rights in a week or earlier by me, is that fine? Second admin here you will be if you want. When did you first join wikia?
I don't mean for those to be deleted, I mean for them to be removed to manga/anime section or in Tohru Fujisawa section? To make the mainpage less crowded with text and filled with media instead...like the portal you have in mind and the anime trailer on my userpage...
Nope I don't put recent activity there on mainpage cause that's usually the generic layout for newly created wiki. Plus, the tab for Special:WikiActivity can be accessed from the navigation menu. Other than that, I'd prefer to watch wiki activities from Special:RecentChanges anyway...
Well, since its only the two of us active editor here, I don't think we need for the achievement badges anyway. Although I did asked for you to update the navigation menu...but no rush though.
Lastly, I've been on wikia for a year now and don't get me wrong here, I'm not aiming for the adminship, plus I see no problem contributing as normal user here. If there's any need for admin edit, I'll just bug you for that if that's ok :D
Also, hope you don't mind, I've added the music pages for anime earlier. So far, I've only found 5 of 'em. Since I'd only read the manga, I'm not sure how many there are...
There are 3 openings and 3 endings. Though in the final episode there is a new ending. So it makes it 7, and the soundtracks. I'll help out a bit, i have all the episodes and soundtracks in my PC.
Excellent! Though it needed a Favicon generator to make it .icon or whatever that is. In the anime actually has 2 openings and 3 endings, plus the final one in the last episode was driver's high (1st opening), my bad xD
Do you need anything special else in this wiki? Like enable some stuff, such as achievements and on?
I'm a new admin, you must have noticed...so i'm trying to be more helpful as i can to other users. I'm working on the main page (Home), so it can look even more helpful to visitors, by adding portals, small parts for the information, latest wiki activity and on. Keep up the good work, if you'll continue editing here!
You can use this favicon generator to generate into .ico file and then saved to your computer.
Maybe you could adjust the navigation menu first? Like media tab with sub anime, manga, music..etc..check on other anime wikis to get some idea..
I love the GTO manga, so you'll probably see me here editing from time to time. Maybe a bit slow but I do want to see the wiki improved and more comprehensive, so..Ganbate to us both! xD
